Usually, as an achitect, I am arranging twodimensional objects in space. But, when I am painting and drawing independently, I am doing the contrary. I transfer spatial ideas into the plane: Doing this, I am satisfied with each technical means and each paint. A brush ist nearly never needed. Therefor, a piece of fibreboard acting as a substrate is robust enough. There is a wider range for spontaneity than when I draw an architectural plan. Also the rules of statics or - to say it conservatively - of supporting and weighting - make way for a seemingly mobile balance. not needing any apology. Tectonics confirming habitual systems don't play any role.

Most of the presented pictures were made during the last 20 years - always in an interplay of random and control. Nearly accidentally emerging parts are conciously retained or removed, painted over or completed. Shapes that pretend to be random are utilised. Sometimes, geometric elements are also bringing orderliness into the chaos. The viewer is not shepherded. Instead, he can give free rein to his own imagination at every picture. That is why most of the pictures don't have a title. If you want to know by which words a picture can be found, you can find some keywords within the source code of the web pages. First of all, nature is my model. - by its fluent transitions and patterns such as rocks, waves, flames, clouds. This does not exclude contrasts to primitive geometrical shapes forming artifakts to confirm it.

I received important inspirations in Marburg by the painter and art teacher Horrst Peter, pupil of Erich Heckel and Willy Baumeister, as well as by the paintress and politician Louisa Biland. Besides, there were exhibitions including the abstract paintings of Gerhard ´Richter. During my studies, i adopted the method of the architect Günter Behnisch to superimpose surfaces or patterns in parts.

I would like to paint a wall or ceiling surface as well as to redesign a large-scale facade by colours. In contrary to "graffiti" or "Kunst am Bau" the result will match the special situation.

A sythesis of architecture and free expression is possible by spatial constructions mostly having curved building surfaces consisiting of many mostly planar faces. Please read more at: www.dome-scape.com
